OVERVIEW OF THE WAR
The rise of the third reich (Nazi Germany) and their aggression towards the rest of the world starts from WW1, when their economy was doing really bad. The rise of Hitler’s Nazi party contributed the most, as the Nazi party decided that it was best to betray the treaty of Versailles as the Versailles treaty stated that Germany would have to pay back a lot of the damage done in world war 1.
Soon, the Nazi party decided that it was also going to be good to introduce conscription, thus breaking another treaty and significantly increasing Germany’s strength during world war 2.
As Germany had their strength increasing, another nation by the name of Japan had also been economically devastated because of the same reasons as Germany. Not to mention, the ever-expanding population of Japan which then made them go to war with China, as Japan wanted more land. The United States of America disapproved of Japan’s actions, imposing a trade barrier to stop Japan from importing items into the war. Which then made Japan bomb pearl harbor causing the United States to bring in the big guns and step into the war.
Germany had their powers expanding rapidly at this time, so they decided to take over Poland, this action added to their strengths. Germany also decided to form an alliance with Russia (their president being Josef Stalin at the time). Germany then decided to attack Russia as Adolf Hitler probably thought that Russia would attack Germany when Germany least expected it. Thus, the battle of Stalingrad (they decided to attack at Stalingrad city because that was the city of Stalin, who happened to be the leader at the time). Which Germany had overpowered Russia in, though not for long, as the Russians ran closer into the city. Then more Russian troops were sent to encircle the German troops and gain the upper-hand.
As Russia won the war, Russia decided to attack Germany, and as more German armies lost, Germany’s power was declining at a rapid rate. German armies on the eastern front (the battle of Kursk), also failed to Russia’s decisive plans.
Soon, most German soldiers were tried for war-crimes and Germany was no longer a superpower.
